WHY WE LOVE THIS VERSATILE RECIPE
Simple dinners are always nice, and this recipe definitely qualifies as simple! It takes just 10 minutes to put together and you pop it in the oven for 40 minutes and have a wonderful meal. Plus, this dish is so versatile. You can easily make it with ground turkey or ground beef. Love cheese? Add a layer of ricotta! Want to add more veggies? Add diced onions or green peppers.

SWAPS
You can use ground beef, pork breakfast sausage, ground turkey or even ground turkey. If you choose to use ground turkey or ground chicken, add a few shakes of Italian seasoning to the meat. Feel free to use any brand and specific flavors for the sauces. I’ve used garlic alfredo, four-cheese marinara, basil marinara, etc. Use what your family likes. You can easily add onions, green peppers, mushrooms, etc. As I said, this recipe is super versatile!
HOW TO MAKE
When we said this was simple…we meant it! You’re just going to brown your Italian sausage, mix in the sauces and the frozen tortellini (no need to thaw!), and then layer in your casserole dish with shredded cheese and bake. Easy, easy!
Storing and Reheating
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days. You can easily reheat it in the microwave or by placing it in the oven, covered at 300 until warmed.
Alfredo Marinara Tortellini Bake
Ingredients
- 2 (19 oz bags) of frozen cheese tortellini
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage
- 16 oz jar of alfredo sauce
- 25 oz jar of marinara sauce
- 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup of shredded parmesan cheese
- salt and pepper
- onions and green peppers optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F and grease a 9×13 casserole dish.
- Using a large skillet, cook Italian sausage over medium heat on the stove.
- Once cooked through, add pasta sauce and alfredo sauce to the skillet and mix well. Add in salt and pepper to taste.
- Add frozen tortellini to the skillet and stir together.
- Pour half the pasta into the greased casserole dish and cover with half the mozzarella. Repeat. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley or basil and serve.
