Rice Krispies treats are always a fan favorite. They are simple to prepare and SO GOOD! This recipe adds a layer of peanut butter cups. HELLO! Uh…so good! Then you top it off with a layer of easy chocolate frosting, and you have the perfect chocolate peanut butter treat. We served them at a luncheon last year, and they were a huge hit!!

  • Creamy peanut butter
  • Butter
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Rice Krispies cereal
  • Chocolate chips
  • Full-size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, unwrapped
  • Whipping cream

These Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect no-bake dessert! Loaded with chocolate and peanut butter flavor, they’re easy to make, gooey, and always a crowd-pleaser. A simple treat that combines two favorites in one irresistible bar.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup of smooth peanut butter
  • 8 tablespoons butter (one stick)
  • 8 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 7 cups of plain rice krispie cereal
  • 2 cups of chocolate chips
  • 24 full size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup of whipping cream

Instructions
 

  • Coat a 9X13 baking pan with cooking spray. In a saucepan, melt butter on low heat; add marshmallows and stir until melted. Stir in peanut butter and combine. Add the cereal to the mixture and stir well. Next press half the mixture into the baking dish. Place the Reese’s cups on top and cover them with the remaining cereal mixture.
  • Place the chocolate chips and whipping cream in a saucepan on medium heat and stir until combined and creamy. Spread over the rice krispies and let set. Cut and enjoy! Store in an airtight container.

  1. Question, the recipe says “Add the cereal to the mixture and stir well….” it goes on a bit and then says “…Place the Reese’s cups on top and cover them with the remaining cereal mixture.” What “remaining cereal”? Do I not add all the 7 cups and mix? Or do I use more then the 7 cups listed?

    1. Hi Kat, we address this in Number 1 of the instructions, you must have just missed it. It says to press HALF the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish, then add the Reese Cups and cover with the remainder. Hope that helps!! 🙂
