The Easiest Sweet Treat
When we say these Mississippi Mud Brownies are easy, we mean it! They come together quickly and are always a huge hit! Of course, this recipe is a take on the famous Mississippi Mud Cake. If you’ve never had it, you need to make one ASAP. While the cake is made from scratch, these brownies are made with a mix. However, you could easily use this homemade brownie recipe. These sweet treats are perfect for any holiday, gathering, tailgate, etc. We’ve served them countless times and they always receive rave reviews.
Simple Tips
- You can easily use any brownie mix. We enjoy the fudge brownies, but you can do what you like!
- Toasting the pecans brings out their flavor and adds to this recipe. You can easily use walnuts or leave them out.
- Definitely place them in the refrigerator to cool for a bit. If you try to cut them when they are warm, they will be very gooey.

Mississippi Mud Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 (18.3) ounce fudge brownie mix plus the ingredients for the brownies.
- 1 cup of toasted chopped pecans
- mini marshmallows
- 16- ounce container of milk chocolate frosting.
Instructions
- To toast the pecans, place them on a baking sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes at 350. You don’t have to toast them, but it adds to the flavor.
- In a 9X13 baking dish, prepare the brownies according to the directions on the brownie box. When you take them out of the oven, immediately sprinkle the mini marshmallows all over the top. Place a piece of aluminum foil over the top to hold in the heat. This will allow the marshmallows to melt. Leave the foil on for 7-8 minutes.
- While they are melting, spoon the frosting into a microwave-safe dish and place it in the microwave for 25 seconds. Take it out, stir it, and continue to warm it until it is of pouring consistency.
- Remove the aluminum foil and pour the frosting over the brownies. Top with pecans—place brownies in the refrigerator for several hours before cutting.
How to Store:
Keep in the refrigerator in an air-tight container.
