Do We Really Need the Grammar Police?
Dear Front Porch Life,
I understand that grammar matters, but does every typo really require a public correction? I see it so often online.. and there is always that one person that says “I was an English teacher.. blah blah blah” and they have to point out where someone said something incorrectly or spelled some thing wrong. What are your thoughts?

Oh Michelle… what perfect timing for this question! I recently shared an image on IG that included a review from a fellow reader, which we don’t edit… and her wording could have been a little different, but we loved it. The number of people who jumped on that and were so rude in the comments was incredible. We blocked or deleted them all because we don’t believe in that behavior.
We also don’t believe in the “I am an English teacher” thing, which we all laughed at, since we see that so often. We post recipes, and I don’t go around critiquing people’s recipes online! This is really odd behavior when people feel the need to correct STRANGERS online and honestly shows more about who they are.. than the person who made the mistake. Let’s be hones some people just talk differently and that is okay, we are not all “efficient” in all the grammar rules.. us included!
I remember years ago, I posted something online and used the word half and should have used halves, and this lady ridiculed me so much, but I refused to delete it… because we are not PERFECT and have never tried to be. We are all human and we make mistakes and no.. we absolutely do not agree with the Grammar police.
