Apple Pie French Bread
Ingredients
- 1 (20 ounce) can of Apple Pie Filling
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 1lb loaf of French or Italian Bread
- 1 cup butter softened
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup brown sugar light or dark
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Glaze Ingredients
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons of heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the bread in half lengthwise (horizontally) and place the halves side by side on the prepared baking sheet. Whisk together the softened butter, vanilla, brown sugar, allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium bowl until smooth and fully combined. Spread the mixture evenly over both bread halves, making sure to cover from end to end. Next, spread the pie filling over each piece of bread (I like to cut the apples up before spreading, but you don’t have to). Sprinkle pecans on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes, then let the bread cool slightly and top with glaze.
Glaze Directions
- For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until the sugar is fully dissolved. Drizzle the glaze over bread. Carefully slice into 1-inch pieces and serve with extra glaze on the side if desired.
HOW TO STORE
Wrap in aluminum foil or put in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for several days. You can reheat this bread, but it is best served immediately.
