Hawaiian sloppy joes is a twist on an old classic. Full of flavor and so simple, this dish makes the perfect weeknight dinner!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound of ground beef or ground turkey
  • ½ cup of chopped Vidalia onion
  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon of ginger
  • ½ cup of ketchup
  • 1 8-ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of liquid smoke
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 20-ounce can of pineapple slices (keep the juice)
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions
 

  • Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and ground beef to a skillet and cook on medium heat until brown. Drain off extra grease.
  • Add ginger, ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, liquid smoke, soy sauce, and ⅓ cup of pineapple juice. Turn down the heat and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
  • Serve on a toasted bun with a pineapple ring on top. Makes 6 sloppy joes.
