In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, onion, and minced garlic until combined. Place the mixture in a serving dish and shape it into a 1 inch-thick circle. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.
In a saucepan, combine the butter (cut up in smaller chunks to make it easier to melt), brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Stir over medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the burner and stir in the toasted pecans.
Let the topping mixture cool for a few minutes and then spoon over the cream cheese.
Serve with crackers.
