Cheese dreams are the best appetizer! Pick up any old church cookbook and you'll find a cheese dream recipe. They are made with white bread, butter, shard cheddar cheese and cream. So simple yet so addictive.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix cheese and butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until blended. Then mix in heavy cream and all the other ingredients (excluding the bread).
Cut crusts from white bread slices; cut each slice into 4 squares. Spread the cheese mixture on half of the bread squares; top it with another square of bread to create a mini sandwich. Spread the remaining mixture over the top and sides of the sandwiches.
Next, place the sandwiches on a lightly greased baking sheet.Bake at 375°F for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
It is best to grate the cheese off the block instead of buying pre-shredded cheese.
You can make these up a day ahead of time and keep them in the refrigerator. Then pop them in the oven when you're ready to serve.
You can add any seasoning/spices that you enjoy. They would also be great with white cheddar.
